Theory
Client: Landscape Forms, 2022
Theory is a flexible system of street furniture and shelters for transit stations specifically designed to improve the travel experience. Theory intends to offer new choices for how we inhabit public space with abstract forms that are open to interpretation for sitting, leaning, perching, and gathering. Theory’s layered thick beams offer an abstract landscape of forms for groups to gather for ‘social waiting’ and thin beams that add tables and wide armrests for working or ‘active waiting’ on the go. Theory’s shelter units are simple, but sophisticated symbols of transit. Together these elements have broad applications for transit settings and many other public spaces that require site-specific seating and shelter. Theory earned eight prestigious industry awards in 2023. To learn more visit Landscape Forms.
applications
Theory is a system of parts that can be programmed into a wide variety of furniture types and spatial settings. This simple kit of parts invites the creativity of specifiers to define spaces and the creative interpretation of travelers to use spaces. The product can be finished in any of Landscape Forms’ standard powder coated colors. The system’s long cantilevered lines emphasize the axis of the street.
